01
The problem, the user and what I learned
Pour‑over kit is usually three objects from three brands, stored in a cupboard and used on the counter. People told us they loved the ritual but hated the clutter.
The brief became a set that lives on the counter as one object, with every part in its place and nothing extra to clean.

On site Approval
Early directions included a tray, a folding stand and a wall‑hung rack. The cantilevered stand was the only one that let the carafe slide out while the dripper stays put.
Sketch iterations focused on the walnut profile and the radius where the two planes meet. A full‑scale MDF model set the pour height.

04
Issue at site
The dripper is slip‑cast stoneware with a single large outlet for a slower, more forgiving draw. The carafe is borosilicate glass with a stainless collar.
The stand is two CNC‑cut walnut parts joined with a concealed dowel and oiled. Tolerances allow for seasonal wood movement around the glass.

Where the project stands
Stem is in sampling with a stoneware workshop in Portugal. The first glazed samples are due in early 2027.
Renders shown are production intent. Prototype photography will replace them as samples arrive.
